delivering "consistent" results every time.

Weigh Investment.
34ml water to 100g powder.
|

Measure Water
Water Temperature:
70°F/21°C to
80°F/27°C
|

Always add investment
to water.
|

Begin mixing by hand
to avoid excessive
dusting.
|

Mix approximately
12 minutes
-
1. Start at a slow speed
(#1 on a Hobart™ Mixer,
2-1/2 hp motor recommended).
The slurry will take on a granular
appearance at about 2-1/2 minutes.
- At 5 minutes stop the mixer and remove residual powder from mixing
blade and walls of bowl.
- Continue mixing for 7 minutes.
- At completion of mixing, the slurry should be very fluid and easy
to pour.

Common
Sprue Arrangement
-
Pin Cusion
- Standard Sprue Tree
|

Attach sprue tree
directly to two sheets of heavy duty absorbent disposable
paper towels
|

Place flask over
sprue tree. Ensure that there is at least 1 to 1/2" of
investment above the top of the sprue tree (highest
wax model)
|

Wrap both paper towels
around flask and secure with a rubber band or wax.
|

|
Place a small piece
of cardboard underneath flask to provide additional
strength during investment pouring and vacuuming. Cardboard
should be at least 1/8" wider than circumference
of flask. |

Place a collar extending
2-3" above the top of flask, using either tape
or rubber sleeve. |

Pour the slurry down
the side of the flask. Avoid pouring directly onto
the sprue tree. Fill 1" (25mm) avove the sprue
tree. |

|
Vacuum up to 90 seconds.
Vibrate vigorously during vacuum procedure. Release
the vacuum and add sufficient slurry to fill the collar
to a height of 1 1/2" above the top of the flask
(depending on the flask height) |

Carefully slide invested
flask off of cardboard base. |

Place on to 1" (25mm)
stack of highly absorbent paper towels. |

Let
sit undisturbed for 16 hours. A small desk fan and
bench lamp can be used to accelerate the evaporation
process.

Decant any water from
the top surface of the investment. Remove collar and
paper towel wrapping.
|

Carefully scrape excess
investment fromtop and bottom of flask.
|

Burnout Process
Hold 2 hours at 200°F / 93°C. Ramp to 1600°F
/ 871°C for 5 hours at 3°F / -16°C per minute. Hold
2 hours at 1600°F / 871°C. Bring to casting temperature
and hold for a minimum of one hour. Cast as quickly as possible
after removal fromthe burnout oven.
|

Deflasking
The flask should be cooled at room temperature. This may be
accomplished by water quenching once the metal has cooled below red
hot, provided that the metal can tolerate quenching. The casting
can then be pushed out by hand.
