Opticast™ Technical Instructions

Recommended for Platinum and other metals with casting temperatures greater the 2000°F / 1093°C, including Stainless Steel, and Nickel or Cobalt based super alloys.

Prepare solution.
Mix 1 part Opti-Bind™ Concentrate to 19 parts of Water. Always add Concentrate to Water.

Weigh Investment.
30 ml Solution to 100g powder.

1 lb = 454 g
1 ml = 1 cc

Add investment to solution. Add 3/4 of the powder to the bowl and begin mixing by hand for 20 to 30 seconds to avoid excessive dusting.

Vacuum for 1 minute after boil.

Attach sprue tree
directly to two sheets of heavy duty absorbent disposable paper towels.

Place flask over sprue tree.
Ensure that there is at least 1 to 1-1/2" of investment above the top of the sprue tree (highest wax model).

Wrap both paper towels around flask
and secure with a rubber band or wax.

Place a collar extending 2-3" above the top of flask, using either tape or rubber sleeve.

Pour the slurry down the side of the flask. Avoid pouring directly onto the sprue tree. Fill 2 to 4mm over the top of the flask.

Vacuum up to 90 seconds. Vibrate vigorously during vacuum procedure.

Carefully slide invested flask off of cardboard base.

Place on to 1/4" (6mm) stack of highly absorbent paper towels.

Remove collar and paper towel wrapping.

Carefully scrape excess investment from top of flask.
